We are aware that some of you think of us as training providers…we’re not, we are also very much still in practice. So, here's a little insight into what we could potentially provide, when we aren’t in the virtual training rooms with your delegates.
We accept referrals from LA, NHS Organisations, private work for Court Proceedings via Solicitors or other valid commission. |
Contact [email protected] for more information and an informal discussion about how we might be able to assist you.

Amongst our core and associate Crew, we have considerable experience in assessing carer capacity to change in respect of domestic abuse, substance abuse and neglect, and carer capacity to meet children's needs considering the impact of mental health diagnoses, disability, or trauma on both the proposed carers and/or the child(ren). All our Children & Family Social Work practitioners have considerable experience in completing assessments, preparing court reports, and giving evidence where required. |
Specialist Adult & Mental Health AssessmentWithin our adult and mental health Crew we bring many many years experience of working in adult and mental health social care services. Between us we bring direct practice and management experience of a wide range of practice areas, including mental health, learning disabilities, autism, older people and substance use/addiction services among others. As such, we are able to provide independent assessment and opinion on care and support assessments and support plans under the Care Act 2014.
Our mental health specialist Crew include a collection of AMHPs who are able to provide independent assessment to inform First-tier or Upper Tribunal (Mental Health) hearings in relation to social circumstances of the individual concerned. We are always happy to discuss specific cases, please contact us to see how we might be able to support you. |
Safeguarding adult enquiries, SAR & Peer reviewsAs a provider of a range of safeguarding specific CPD and practice services, we keep ourselves current by providing independent enquiry officer and review services.
For enquiries that require a critical review or an independent lead officer, we might just be your solution. We pride ourselves on delivering rights-based, defensible, and person-centered services. Reflecting the MSP and MCA principles in all our practice, we deliver expertise in the assessment and management of the complexities between autonomy and protection that are often central to safeguarding adult issues and concerns. |
COP DoL AssessmentsWe are pleased to have now established a specialist BIA service for the assessments required for the Re X procedure (COP3, COP11, COP24). We are working closely with CCG colleagues to develop this service.
Providing assessment and practice support for CHC and other commissioning services, who need to refer to the Court to ensure community DoL arrangements are lawful and provide the required Article 5 (HRA 1998) safeguards. This applies for those unable to consent to care arrangements, but who are receiving accommodation, care and treatment. We are always available for a chat, but we have an online referral form set up for colleagues in Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes, if this is you, ping us the details and we’ll email you straight back. |
DoLS - BIA & PPR ServicesWe appear to have a surprising number of BIA’s over here! We are not quite sure how that happened, we aren’t hoarding them we promise!
As well as teaching on the Tavistock programme and delivering lots of refresher programmes (including BASW & Tavi, as well as our own open programme), we all also practice as Independent BIAs and are happy to take on commissions for supervisory bodies undertaking MCA, BI - and if required the Eligibility assessment - we have several dual qualified AMHP/BIA Crew over here! We are also happy to consider paid person's representative (PPR) commissions in our home areas, please contact us to discuss these requests further. If new Crew are appointed and live in your area, expect a call from one of us to sign them up and offer our services (but feel free to ask). |
Mental Capacity AssessmentAs we have become more involved in COP DoL and community placement arrangements, we have also been increasingly asked for input into complex MCA determinations. We are able to undertake independent capacity assessments, were there are contrasting views or uncertainty.
Most of our adult Crew, and some of our Children & Young People’s Crew, are BIA and BIA/AMHP qualified practitioners, with current approvals and Social Work England registration. All of which are engaged in independent practice as part of their core roles with the organisation. Amongst our team we have expertise and experience in young people, trauma-informed practice, systemic practice, substance misuse and the full range of legal frameworks. If we can’t assist…. we usually know a woman (or man) who can! |
Supervision & MentoringDCC-I are passionate in advocating Social Work in any setting, and we know how challenging it can be to be the only Social Worker in a private or voluntary sector organisation - we have offered independent Social Work supervision to social workers in charities, private businesses, community and faith-based organisations.
We are also experienced in supporting individuals who are progressing in leadership roles and would benefit from a critical friend, many of our team have worked at director level for nhs, local authority or charities and we are able to support your personal and professional development as a leader of others, including in a multi-disciplinary context. |
ASYE Assessment & Practice EducationAs well as lots of BIA’s we also have a collection of Practice Educators and ASYE Assessors experienced in supporting students and NQSW’s in Adult, Children and Mental Health Statutory and voluntary sector organisations, this can be offered with or without supervision and action learning sets for individuals or cohorts.
We support Students and NQSW’s with theory, reflection and ensuring they produce a good quality portfolio clearly evidencing their capabilities against the PCF and KSS. We will do everything we can to support individuals who are struggling, but we are not afraid to present robust evidence to universities and employers where the standard has not been met. Our services include undertaking observations, reviews and completing the final report. |
Practice Mentor Assessment (PMA) & ModerationWe can also support new PE’s and Assessors as they learn the ropes! This can take the form of mentoring as a critical friend or providing workshops to assist new PE’s and Assessors to apply and assess the PCF and KSS in practice, or how to produce observation and final reports that meet the standard of their local moderation panel. We also provide PMA services for those training for their PEPs qualification, including mentoring, direct observations and assessments.
We are able to support agencies and organisations where a NQSW or student has been assessed as failing and is challenging this decision by providing Independent Quality Assurance of the evidence. We also have experience of moderation for local authorities and teaching partnerships, and we are currently moderators for a national charity in respect of their ASYE provision. |
