Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) and

Practice Assessor/NQSW Assessor Programmes

The first BASW/DBC-DCC-i NQSW sessions, delivered at the end of 2020, involved delegates from Torbay to Edinburgh, which would be difficult to achieve in a classroom without it costing lots of money and making at least 2 delegates very tired!

The sessions provide a safe space for NQSW’s or Assessors to share experiences including ideas & solutions as well as being able to apply session topics (managing unseen risks, emotional resilience, evidence based assessment & decision-making, ethical dilemmas, cultural competence & effective case recordings) to their own cases and settings. Delegates report that not only have they taken away learning from each session but they have formed their own professional networks that allow them to continue accessing peer support and sharing knowledge, experience and resources. In fact, so far we haven’t found a drawback!

There will be four NQSW Cohorts running 2021/22 and the programmes are open to individual NQs or Assessors, or for organisations to secure smaller numbers of places than would be required for a comprehensive inhouse NQSW Programme.
