Whilst mental health services generally are not accepting of cannabis use, the medication has been legal in the UK since 2018, with an increasing evidence based in relation to its use in the treatment of a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.
We believe that current attitudes towards the medication is based on a bias view rooted in misinformation and stigma. For many conditions it means that a potential therapeutic option is ruled out and clinicians who do support its use are forced into the private sector.
Current attitudes towards drugs and alcohol are oppressive and lack balance, we know many psychiatric medications and treatments cause multiple harms yet they are acceptable and promoted, and yet other options dismissed or only available based on a patients ability to pay for it. This is not a fair or just position and we are no longer prepared to be silent in our support for any treatments that may improve a person's quality of life.
If it is legally prescribed, patients are welcome to use their medication via vape in our virtual world. The stigma will be challenged in our house.
